Simple Syrup

Makes about 3/4 cup

  •  ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup water
  1.  Prepare an ice-water bath. In a large saucepan, combine sugar and water; bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Cook until sugar has completely dissolved, about 10 minutes.
  3. Transfer the syrup to a bowl, and set the bowl over the ice-water bath.
  4. Let stand, stirring occasionally, until chilled.
  5. Store the syrup in an airtight container, refrigerated, for up to 2 months.
